Tuesday, May 12th, 5:30-7:30 p.m. In May, 1976, Steven Spurrier, a British Wine Merchant living in Paris, organized a blind wine tasting competition to commemorate the US Bicentennial. The tasting pitted the best French Chardonnays + Cabernets against their young American counterparts. Judging the wines blind (not knowing which wines they were tasting) were 9 French wine experts (Sommeliers, Winemakers, Wine Writers). In a stunning surprise (especially to the French Judges), the American wines won, shocking the wine world & launching California wines onto the global stage. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this historic event, we will be tasting 6 wines, once again pitting California vs. France. And just like the judges 50 years ago, we will be doing it blind. What will be tasting? 2 Chardonnays (One from California, one from France) 2 Syrahs (One from California, one from France) 2 Cabernet Sauvignons (One from California, one from France) Where: Ciao Mambo Wine Cellar 541 South Higgins Avenue, Missoula When: Tuesday, May 12th from 5:30-7:30pm Cost: $75 per person for a bevy of beverages and artisanal pizzas
