Henry Barlow Carter (1803-1867) British School 19th.Century. 'Storm off Scarborough', Watercolour, Signed, 17.1 x 24.1 cms. Inspired by the seascapes of J M W Turner, Carter specialised in bracing coastal scenes, particularly of Yorkshire. His watercolours made ideal souvenirs for the discerning Victorian tourist to the burgeoning resort of Scarborough.
