Visitez l'URRS en Hiver - InTourist
Intourist is a Russian travel agency founded in 1929, and was in fact was the official state travel agency of the Soviet Union. Intourist was responsible for managing the great majority of foreigners' access to, and travel within, the Soviet Union. It was Intourist which opened the "Iron curtain" by allowing visitors to see with their own eyes what was happening in the USSR - a country which had undergone tremendous upheaval. The development of Intourist went in two directions: the foreign field, related to international sales of tours around the USSR, and the domestic one, aimed at providing support for tourism inside the country - accommodations, excursions, transportation, (air, rail, boat, and automobile) sales of souvenirs and works of art, visits to theatres and concert halls. After over 60 years of controlling all foreigners' travel within the Soviet Union, Intourist was privatized in 1992.In this festive design from 1958 we see the people frolicking in the snow and playing with the snowman. In addition, there are photos inserted in the top of the poster depicting other winter scenes as well as the Intourist logo. This expressive graphic encourages travel to the USSR in the 1950's in the period of expansion after WWII. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
