Let’s Talk: Getting Funders & Nonprofits on the Same Page
In this moment when foundations and nonprofits face intensifying challenges, a worrisome gap has emerged in poll after poll: Nonprofit leaders don’t think funders understand their struggles — and foundation executives don’t believe nonprofits grasp their concerns. The gulf is wide, according to a study the Chronicle and Mission Partners conducted: More than half of nonprofit leaders and more than three quarters of foundation leaders are concerned about the disconnect between funders and grantees. To find a way forward, we’re gathering grant makers and nonprofits that have successfully overcome divides and formed strong partnerships. They’ll share what has worked to build mutual understanding and respect. And they’ll offer ideas on what more grant makers and nonprofits can do to heighten cooperation and accelerate progress on essential philanthropic missions. Speakers: Camille Busette, Executive Vice President, Programs, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Signe Harriday, Interim Head of Social Enterprises, Pillsbury United Communities Eleanor Savage, President and CEO, Jerome Foundation
