Fiat 1.4 Turbo Stg 1 Cylinder Head
The entry level cylinder head for performance, and its addressing all the inherent issues/problems/factory flaws of the stock head. So, lets get to it! Stock head burns exhaust valves, and the simple reason being... poor valve lash quality control and extremely low spring pressure with closed valve. What does that mean? Turbo system builds back pressure on the exhaust side, this is how the spin the turbo. However, to much back pressure can be a problem. How you may ask? Because the close spring pressure is not enough to overcome that back pressure. The stock "closes spring pressure" is around 36 to 38 ft lbs. What does this mean in back pressure, around 32/34 psi that creates an active leak at the exhaust valve. This means, exhaust is getting into your combustion chamber under full boost (stock turbo makes this issue so much more worse) and contaminating the fresh air and fuel that is suppose to be cooling the combustion event. With a bunch of exhaust present, it makes for a bad case of burnt valves. So, solution? Better springs, better valve lash settings between the lash/lifter to top of valve. Enter... the Stg 1 cylinder head. Its simple. Build a head that is effective and still cost friendly, and adds a fair amount of HP/TQ. Lets get into the details: Used low mileage head Full ultrasonic clean Resurface head 3 angle valve grind MAHLE valve stem seals Lash set to .020 INT .030 EX Full runner port work, under seat port work to open up the exhaust valve flow Polished exhaust stems/back of valve face High Rev valve spring kit NA 1.4 MultiAir cam (best/safest/reliable option) Tork MA springs Fully assembled All you need to do is install your MultiAir assembly, and you are good to go! Moderate port work, with reconditioned valves, and all brand new valve springs/retainers/locks/custom spring seats, and upgraded camshaft. This is essentially a stock performance head, but a solid 15/20 WHP gains on your tuned stock turbo Fiat. We ask that you send us your head, so we can check and clean your MA assembly and install it for you, but if that is impossible, we can offer a core program that allows you to swap out your core with ours. We can do MA assemblies, which will be listed here on the website, to be installed on your Stg 1 cylinder head. The expectations for HP gains are 15/20 with stock turbo, with modified turbo or big turbo cars, expect gains to be even greater. To finish the job, get our head stud/gasket combo kit listed on the website. NOTE: These do come with an additional core charge. What we have found in the past is that these normally have a catastrophic failure, but if your core is not damaged beyond repair send it back to us for a refund/partial refund.
