Black Leather Chrome Cantilever Mies Van Der Rohe MR10 Chairs For Knoll

This is a set of 8 cantilever dining chairs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe produced for Knoll circa the 1970s. An icon of Bauhaus design, these chairs feature seamless tubular chrome cantilever frames designed by the legendary architect in 1927. The seats and backrests are clad in black leather with the signature corset lacing on the chairs back and seat bottom. 6 chairs are shown but this is a set of 8 chairs. Designed for the 1927 Weissenhof Estate exhibition in Stuttgart, the MR10 is an icon of the Bauhaus movement. Unlike other more right angled cantilever designs of his peers, van der Rohe introduced the curved front arc to provide a natural rhythm to the movement of the chair, enhancing comfort without the need for traditional upholstery. The chairs are in overall good condition with one chair showing scratch marks as shown.
