Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru "Les Suchots" 2012

Lachaux noted that there was a very high percentage of shot berries in 2012 and it shows as there is a palpable density to the fruit and flavors that is most impressive. The notably spicy black fruit and violet aromas introduce exceptionally concentrated and mouth coating flavors as the abundant sap completely buffers the otherwise firm tannic spine on the balanced and wonderfully persistent finish. This is at once seductive but serious and should amply repay mid-term cellaring. Burghound 92-94 Sweet Spot Outstanding! (production here was just 14 hectoliters per hectare, according to Lachaux; vinified with 50% whole clusters): Good bright red. High-pitched, new-oaky aromas of raspberry, rose petal, crushed stone and sweet spices. Densely packed and compellingly sweet, showing terrific sappy cut and purity to its red cherry, raspberry and mineral flavors. The tannins are firm but supple, and the pure finish is captivatingly long and sweet. Taner 93-95
