Vintage Red Mixed Weave Rug

Overview: We love this short runner! There are a couple things that draw our attention immediately -- on the one hand, we love that it's made with mixed textures. Most of the rug is flatweave, but if you look closely, you'll notice that all of the symbols are separated by low pile, hand-knotted lines, lending the rug a checkered look. The other thing we love is that two of the lines of symbols feature chicken symbols. Generally it's rare to find figural representation in Islamic art, but when the rugs reveal animals or humans, we get extra excited! Finally, the borders on this rug are so fun, creating a lovely container to hold all of the symbols on the interior of the rug! Place this rug in your kitchen, bathroom, or use it as a bedside runner. As a smaller/lighter piece, we would recommend using a rug pad underneath as a way to anchor the rug and give it more cushioning underfoot!
