Saturday June 6th in-person at Calamus & Honey 9:30am - 11:30am Suffumigation, the burning of consecrated incenses to attract spirits, empower magical operations, and open the practitioner to celestial influence, is one of the oldest and most consistent practices in the Western magical tradition. In this hands-on workshop, Jeremy Bechelli from Phytognosis draws on the Tractatus Thymiamatus, the Book of Suffumigations from the medieval grimoire Sepher Raziel: Liber Salomonis, to present one of the most complete and systematic treatments of magical incense work to survive from the medieval period. The workshop will cover the history and theory of suffumigation within the Solomonic tradition, the threefold system of planetary, zodiacal, and elemental incenses presented in the Tractatus Thymiamatus, and the practical principles of blending, maturing, and burning loose incense on charcoal. Participants will then work hands-on to blend their own planetary incense, leaving with their own crafted incense blend suited to their magical practice. All materials will be provided. About Jeremey Bechelli Jeremy is a dedicated scholar with a deep-rooted interest in the study of European folk magic, focusing his research on the areas of occult herbalism, traditional medicine, and the rich history of witch-lore and practices originating from the British Isles.
