Lonicera caerula var. edulis The 'Boreal' varieties are recently released form the University of Saskatchewan, selected for improved berry size, yield and flavor. Yes! Boreal Beauty has large squat berries with excellent flavor., ripening later than other honeyberry varieties. Strong upright growth with good resistance to powdery Mildew. Late flowering. It cross pollinates with Tundra, Boreal Beast and Boreal Blizzard. Long valued in their native Eastern Siberia, honeyberries (AKA haskaps) produce tasty, elongated blue berries, great for fresh eating or processing. Super hardy and promising berry, with few disease or pest problems. One of the first berries, ripening in June! Two different varieties are needed for pollination. Plants grow 4-6’ tall.
