Gran Teatro del Burrattini, Venice (2026) by Geoffrey Wynne RI
Original Watercolour by Geoffrey Wynne RI A second and distinct painting of the traditional Italian puppet theatre, painted on location in Venice during the 2026 carnival season. Where the companion work captures the theatre in close focus, this version draws back to place the scene within the wider spectacle of Venice itself — the city's light, atmosphere, and carnival energy woven into every brushstroke. One of a series of works made during the trip, and among the most ambitious in scale and mood. Exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours — 214th Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London (25 March – 11 April 2026), presented by the Federation of British Artists. Medium: Watercolour and white gouache Painting size: 54cm × 73cm / 21" × 28.5" Framed size: 74cm × 93cm / 29" × 36.5" Framing: Brushed white wooden frame with double-height white mount under glass Framing upgrades: Museum glass available on request Sold: Direct from the artist via Barewall Art Gallery, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent Geoffrey Wynne RI is an elected member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and trained at the Burslem School of Art.
