Explore the foundations of handbuilt ceramics in this 6-week class focused on creating functional and sculptural forms through the foundational techniques of pinching, coiling and slab building. Students will learn how to construct strong, well-crafted pieces while experimenting with sculptural approaches, texture, molds, stamps, and surface decoration to develop their own unique style. Kat Hardi has been handbuilding with clay for as long as she has worked with the material. No matter your vision, this class provides the skills and guidance to bring your ideas to life. Demonstrations will include pinched vessels, coil-built forms, and slab-built vases, mugs, and plates. Students will complete the session by learning to glaze their work for durable, food-safe results.
