Vintage Olle Alberius Rörstrand Romanta — Sculpted Stoneware, Scandinavian Design 1960s

There is something quietly alive in the way Olle Alberius worked clay. This small Rörstrand saucer bowl from the Romanta series carries his hand in every line — botanical forms, folk memory, and the particular warmth of Swedish stoneware at its most honest. The wide, shallow rim is hand-incised with leaves, seeds, and sun-like forms in rich amber and cream against deep brown. The center well is glazed in cool white, a still point inside all that texture. The underside bears the Rörstrand three-crown mark with “Sweden” and “Romanta” — confirmation of both maker and moment. Rörstrand was founded in 1726, making it the second-oldest ceramics manufacturer in Europe. Alberius brought a folk sensibility to mid-century modernism — his work never felt industrial, always personal. Use it on a coffee table for jewelry or small objects.
