2023 Pinot Noir

Varietals, Vineyard & Harvest: 100% estate grown pinot noir, hand-harvested at Black Bank Hill on 2 and 3 October 2023 at 22.3 and 21.4 brix respectively. Winemaking: Destemmed and lightly crushed for an ambient/wild fermentation. Racked into mostly second use French oak barrels for 20-months élevage. Estate bottled unfiltered and unfined at Black Bank Hill on 25 July 2025. Wine Description: Medium garnet colour. The nose reveals cherry, ripe strawberry, rhubarb, raspberry and liquorice. The palate continues with sassafras, blood-orange, loam, pastrami, bergamot, star-anise, clove, nutmeg. Medium-bodied with medium acidity and an elegant finish of plentiful but very fine tannins which slowly recede across the palate. A very fine wine, showing superb balance with many years ahead of it. Acidity & pH: TA 5.99 g/L, pH 3.43 Sweetness: Dry on the palate containing 0.7 g/L residual sugar Alcohol by Volume: 13.5% Production: 184 cases
