2026 Kuma's Yame Sencha Okuyutaka
A single cultivar fukamushi style sencha with notes of red fruit, florals, and the clean taste of fresh lightly cooked vegetables with a silky umami richness. This tea is grown by third generation tea maker Masahiro Kuma and his wife Kazumi Nakatani (herself a fourth generation tea farmer). Their fields in Joyo-machi (Yame) benefit from cool nights and a steady breeze which allows them to farm without agrochemicals or commercial pesticides. The Okuyutaka cultivar is prized for its high amino acid content and low catechins which give this tea a delicious umami and natural sweetness. First flush harvest, spring 2026.
