Antique Georgian Gold Mourning Portrait Pendant

An exceptional piece of Georgian mourning jewellery in the form of a pendant with a hook clasp to also be worn as a brooch. The pendant features a hand painted portrait of a lady in mourning next to a three dimensional urn made from a Bristol blue glass stone. The urn is decorated with tiny seed pearls and sits on top of a twisted gold wirework frame. The urn sits on an equally detailed plinth also set with tiny seed pearls and gold wirework detailing. The portrait sits under a thick glass dome framed by square cut paste stones. The base frame of the pendant is solid gold with the silver paste set frame layered over it. The pendant also features a sealed gold bale attached. The pendant is in good antique condition. Width - 2.1 cm Length - 3.5 cm Weight - 7.5 grams
