Eco Printing and Woggle Workshop

Special 2 Part Workshop! Join us for a special collaborative workshop with fiber artist Laura Hricko. This two-part workshop takes place over two separate dates: in part one, you’ll create an eco-dyed silk scarf with Laura, and in part two, you’ll fabricate a custom metal scarf woggle with Kaitlin Kerr. Part One Workshop Description: Learn how to use locally grown dye flowers to create a stunning, one-of-a-kind silk scarf. This hands-on workshop will lead participants through the natural dye process known as 'eco-printing', a direct dyeing technique that creates near-perfect botanical prints on fabric or paper. As we work, we’ll discuss the fundamentals of natural dyeing, including fiber preparation, plant selection, and the unique dye properties of flowers and leaves. Experience the magic of coaxing color from plant materials to create rich colors and stunning patterns on fabric. Leave the workshop with a beautiful piece of naturally dyed wearable art and a deeper appreciation of the creative potential of the natural world. Part Two Workshop Description: You'll craft your own custom scarf woggle (it's a new word to us too!) from start to finish, learning techniques like piercing (aka sawing) with a jeweler's saw, adding texture with hammers and stamps, and the satisfying skill of torch soldering. Polish your woggle or give it a satin finish and walk away with a beautiful compliment to your hand dyed scarf. All dye materials, scarves and base metals (copper, brass, bronze) are included in the class price; sterling silver add-on available for $50.
