Exceptional Sculptural Coffee Table Attributed to Charlotte Perriand, France, c. 1960s
A sculptural low table attributed to Charlotte Perriand, France, c. 1960s. The oval top with a gently raised edge and recessed field, set on cylindrical supports, forming a balanced and architectural composition of considerable presence. The design bears close resemblance to Perriand’s later Accordo table, notably in its low proportions and sculptural treatment of mass and support. The present example, however, is executed in solid wood with a natural finish, contrasting the lacquered surfaces of later editions, and suggests an earlier or parallel exploration of these formal ideas within an alpine context. Provenance from a private collection in the Méribel area, with the presence of other works associated with Perriand. Executed in solid wood, likely mahogany. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor marks and surface wear. Structurally sound.
