CAVES SAO JAO BAGA NOVO 2023

Founded in 1920 by the Costa brothers, Caves São João is the only Portuguese winery to commercially offer library vintages dating to 1959—a testament to Bairrada's aging credentials. Their Baga Novo comes from clay-rich Bairrada soils under a mild maritime climate, where abundant rainfall pushes acidity to remarkable levels in the rot-prone Baga grape. Vinified in stainless steel with just five days of skin contact at 68°F, this 11% ABV red is best served slightly chilled, delivering strawberry, dried rose, and a whisper of spice with bright, refreshing acidity.
