Large Antique Staffordshire Blue Willow Platter | c.1885
A large antique Blue Willow platter made in Staffordshire, England, featuring the classic chinoiserie landscape pattern in rich cobalt blue. At 16.5 inches wide, this is a substantial piece with the weight and scale collectors look for in early English transferware. Its generous size makes it equally useful as a serving piece or as a decorative focal point on a shelf, sideboard, or dining table. Back mark is a crown and reads"Staffordshire China,", which could indicate a number of different English makers. It measures 16.5" wide and 14" tall, and is a heavier piece. Shows age-related wear consistent with antique transferware, including crazing, minor glaze imperfections, and light discoloration along the edges (one small brown stain). There is one area of rough glaze on the backside egde, but no major areas of damage such as chips or cracks. c. 1885, Sourced in England
