Diners in New York City are spoiled for choice. On a single block, you might find a pizzeria, a noodle shop and a fine-dining institution, all of them stellar. How do you narrow more than 20,000 restaurants down to the 100 best? Our interim restaurant critics clocked dozens of hours on the subway and bought several new (larger) pairs of pants. They whittled their selections down until they had a list that represented the city’s culinary greatness, across boroughs, cuisines, price points and styles.
