NATURAL INDIGO SELVEDGE - True Guy 12.5oz

Natural Indigo Selvedge is a 12.5 oz Japanese selvedge denim woven on traditional shuttle looms in Japan, and one of Naked & Famous' core products for good reason. What fundamentally distinguishes this fabric from standard denim is the dye. Where almost all denim is dyed with synthetic indigo, natural indigo from the indigofera plant is used here. The process is as simple as it is ancient: the plant is placed in a water bath to ferment. The bath itself is green, but as the cotton thread is pulled from the water and meets the oxygen in the air, the color changes to blue. It is precisely this oxidation process that gives Natural Indigo its characteristic tone – the innermost core of the thread has not fully oxidized, leaving a faint greencast beneath the blue surface. The result is a warmer, slightly more subdued mid-blue than you are used to from synthetic rope-dyed denim. And it is the fading that truly rewards patience: Natural Indigo fades softer and more organically than synthetic indigo, revealing over time an authentic vintage character that is difficult to replicate in other ways.
