Deering, just one of the many fascinating ships mentioned on the chart… Carroll A. Deering –“ a 1,879-ton schooner. She was spotted aground under full sail on Diamond Shoals in 1921. High seas prevented rescuers from approaching the ship for four days, and when she was finally boarded, they found her abandoned, except for a grey cat. After salvagers removed everything of value, the ship was left to be broken up by the sea. No trace of her captain or crew was ever found!” It measures 21.5" x 23", full color.
