String of Bananas is an evergreen trailing succulent known for its long cascading stems lined with distinctive curved, banana-shaped fleshy leaves. Its fast-growing trailing habit makes it especially effective spilling from containers, hanging baskets, and elevated planters, while the unusual foliage provides year-round ornamental interest. Small clusters of white, brush-like flowers may appear during the growing season and have a light, cinnamon-like fragrance, although the cascading foliage remains its primary ornamental feature. Grows best in full sun to part sun and dry to average, sharply well-drained soils. It is highly drought tolerant once established and should be protected from prolonged wet conditions and frost.
