Thompson Bros Ardmore 27 Year Old Scotch Whisky was filled into a first fill bourbon barrel in 1999 and bottled in June 2026 with a yield of 161 bottles. Nose: Gentle and complex, opening with aromas of soft wood smoke, vanilla fudge and heather honey. Mature orchard fruits, dried apricot and lemon peel are joined by notes of toasted oak, coconut and a subtle herbal freshness. With time, hints of wax, sweet malt and light spice add further depth. Palate: Silky and well-integrated, delivering flavours of vanilla custard, ripe pear and baked apple, balanced by Ardmore’s signature earthy peat smoke. The bourbon cask contributes layers of crème brûlée, toasted coconut and light caramel, while mature oak introduces gentle cinnamon, white pepper and a touch of nutmeg. The smoke remains elegant throughout, complementing rather than dominating the fruit. Finish: Long and warming, with lingering notes of soft bonfire smoke, vanilla, honey and toasted oak. Delicate citrus zest, gentle spice and a faint mineral character persist, leaving a balanced and refined impression.
