Sesleria autumnalis (Autumn Moor-Grass) A neat, clump-forming grass that earns its AGM with ease, Sesleria autumnalis — commonly known as Autumn Moor-Grass — is one of the most reliable and versatile ornamental grasses for UK gardens. It produces attractive lime-green foliage that brightens borders from spring, followed by slender silvery-white flower spikes from late summer into autumn. Unlike many grasses, it performs well in both sun and partial shade, making it a genuinely useful plant for a wide range of situations. Autumn Moor-Grass is a superb choice for the front or middle of a border, where its bright foliage provides a fresh contrast to darker-leaved neighbours. It is particularly effective massed in drifts or used as ground cover beneath trees and shrubs.
