Serenade Lugubre for Trombone and Piano by Thor Johannes Ibsen has been edited by Niels-Ole Bo Johansen. Written in the early part of the 20th century, the work has a mysterious, dark and romantic feel to it. Serenade has been beautifully recorded (click on link below) as part of the Danish Trombone Heritage CD by Johansen. The work is suitable for advanced-intermediate performers and is about 3.5 minutes in length making it an excellent choice as a first solo for a young performer.
