Dymond BondMaxx 140 Novolac Epoxy Primer Dymond BondMaxx 140 is a high-solids, two-component colored novolac epoxy primer designed for use beneath compatible chemical-resistant novolac coating systems. Its low-viscosity formulation provides excellent penetration into properly prepared concrete and cementitious substrates while helping seal the surface before higher-build novolac topcoats are applied. By reducing air release and outgassing from porous concrete, BondMaxx 140 helps minimize pinholes, bubbles and other surface imperfections in high-build and self-leveling chemical-resistant flooring systems. Its low-odor formulation and extended working time make it a practical primer for demanding industrial and commercial environments. Published testing includes long-term immersion resistance to 10% and 50% sodium hydroxide, 10% sulfuric acid, 10% hydrochloric acid and ethylene glycol. Resistance varies according to the chemical, concentration, temperature, exposure period and complete flooring system. System Guidance BondMaxx 140 does not require a separate primer and is itself intended to serve as the primer layer within a compatible novolac flooring system. Dymond SolidCor 230 Novolac Epoxy Topcoat is the recommended finish coat. Other compatible novolac coatings may also be suitable, but system compatibility should be confirmed before installation. Application Overview Concrete must be clean, dry, mechanically prepared and free from laitance, oil, dust and other contaminants. Thin-build systems require a suitable mechanical profile, while systems exceeding 10 mils dry thickness are best prepared by fine shot blasting. Combine Part A and Part B at the specified ratio and mix thoroughly using slow-speed mixing equipment until the material is uniform and streak-free. Apply by brush or roller at 5 to 6 mils wet thickness. For best results, use a high-quality 3/8-inch nap roller. BondMaxx 140 must be topcoated with a suitable novolac epoxy coating. Before topcoating, confirm that the primer is fully tack-free and does not retain a fingerprint when pressed firmly with a thumb. Inspect for epoxy blush and remove any whitish or greasy film with a suitable detergent cleaner before applying the next coat. Important: New concrete must cure for at least 30 days. Slabs on grade require a functioning moisture barrier, and the substrate temperature must remain at least 5°F above the dew point. Refer to the Technical Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet before use.
