Crataegus ‘Crimson Cloud’

Crataegus ‘Crimson Cloud’ is a hardy deciduous ornamental and specimen tree valued for its colourful spring flowers, red autumn fruits and attractive seasonal foliage. It is an excellent choice for lawns, smaller gardens, wildlife-friendly planting and mixed borders. In May and June, the tree produces an abundance of striking red to pink flowers, creating a vibrant display against the green foliage. These are followed by small red fruits in autumn, which add further seasonal interest and can provide food for birds. The foliage develops attractive autumn colour before falling, while the tree’s branching structure provides interest through the winter months. Growing to approximately 5–7 metres in height, ‘Crimson Cloud’ is a useful size for a specimen or feature tree without becoming as large as some native Hawthorn varieties. It works particularly well as a standalone tree on a lawn or in a mixed planting scheme. Plant in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. Hardy and adaptable, it is well suited to a wide range of UK growing conditions and is a good choice for wildlife-friendly gardens, with its flowers attracting pollinating insects and its fruits providing food for birds.
