CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI ( English )

Swaraj established by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj transcended caste and creed. Yet casteist interpretations by both Brahmin and non-Brahmin writers distorted its history, dividing Maharashtra’s cultural heritage. Purandare, Comrade Sharad Patil, and Vinod Anavrat represent differing interpretations that have contributed to historical denigration. This work presents a rational perspective on Swaraj, undertaken in service of both the Satara and Kolhapur branches of Shivaji Maharaj’s lineage. Inspired by my ancestors’ service to Swaraj, I have courageously defended Maharashtra’s inclusive heritage against distortion and controversy.
