A sneaker in vegetable-tanned leather, hand-woven. The weave covers the toe, the sides and the quarters: each strip is cut, gauged and crossed one by one over a curved last, where there is no straight line to work against. The finishing is done by hand as well, and it shows wherever the leather changes direction. The burnishing gathers at the toe, follows the edges of the weave and darkens along the seams: these are the points where the maker's hand leaves its mark, and where no two pairs come out the same. Smooth leather panels at the instep, the heel and along the lacing frame the weave and hold its structure. Seven pairs of eyelets with flat mustard laces. The bottom is ultra-soft rubber in a cream shade that lightens the whole. The lining is natural leather, with a leather insole. It is a shoe that moves between two registers: it works with jeans and an unstructured jacket, and equally with wool trousers in an office that no longer asks for an oxford.
