Join us in our calm and welcoming pottery studio for a 6-week course that invites you to slow down after summer, get your hands into clay, and explore the joy of making. Whether you're completely new to pottery or already familiar with the wheel, this course is designed to meet you where you are—with space to learn, play, and relax. Together we’ll explore both hand-building techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab construction, as well as wheel throwing—learning how to center clay and pull up the walls. You’ll create pieces that reflect your own style, and we’ll guide you every step of the way in a friendly, supportive group setting. ✨ No stress. No experience needed. Just a beautiful space to create and connect. What to Bring Comfortable clothes Indoor shoes A small hand towel or apron Course Dates – Autumn/Winter 2026 (Weeks 43–49) Course Sessions (6 classes): Week 43: Wednesday 21 October Week 44: Wednesday 28 October Week 45: Wednesday 4 November Week 46: Wednesday 11 November Week 47: Wednesday 18 November Week 49: Wednesday 2 December (Final glazing week) Break & Firing Week (No Class): Week 48: Wednesday 25 November – No class (Studio break & bisque firing) At least one makeup class will be offered and can be taken during our membership drop-in time. Course Flow Week 1 – Introduction to clay and the studio. Create a simple hand-built piece such as an oil burner or candle holder using pinch and slab techniques. Week 2 – Refine your work and explore surface decoration using engobes. Week 3 – Learn the basics of the pottery wheel: centering, pulling walls, and shaping. Week 4 – Trim and turn the piece you threw the previous week. Week 5 – Develop personal projects, finish all pieces, and prepare them for bisque firing. Week 6 – Glaze your final pieces and discover the magic of color and texture.
