Striped Agate Six Band Hand-Forged Sterling Silver Ring

This one-of-a-kind ring features an elongated oval striped agate set in hand-forged sterling silver. Natural bands of black, white, and earthy brown move through the cabochon, giving the stone a strong graphic quality that shifts from one section to the next. A clean straight bezel frames the agate, while six individual round sterling silver bands are joined side by side to create the substantial wide shank. Built entirely at the bench in our Adirondack studio, the ring is oxidized to emphasize the individual bands and details within the silverwork. Form & Proportion The elongated oval agate creates a strong presence across the hand, with its contrasting bands of color providing the primary visual detail. Beneath the setting, six round sterling silver rings sit alongside one another to form a wide, structured shank. Rather than using a single sheet of silver to create the width, the individual bands remain an intentional part of the design, giving the ring rhythm, dimension, and visible structure. Materials & Method Each sterling silver band is individually formed before the six are aligned and soldered together at the bench. The elongated agate is secured within a hand-formed straight bezel, providing a clean edge around the naturally striped stone. An oxidized finish settles into the recessed areas between the bands and around the setting, creating contrast and making the construction of the ring more visible.
