The Martin 5-28 Terz marks the return of the historic Size 5 Terz model to the Martin lineup and is currently the smallest guitar offered by Martin. Based on a design dating back to the earliest years of the company, this compact 12-fret instrument features a short 21.38" scale length and is designed for Terz tuning, a minor third higher than standard tuning. This unique tuning creates a focused, bell-like voice with exceptional shimmer, clarity, and harmonic texture. The guitar features a spruce top finished in gloss with aging toner, paired with solid East Indian rosewood back and sides. Additional Style 28 appointments include antique white binding, ebony fingerboard, mother-of-pearl Style 28 inlays, bone saddle, and nickel open-gear tuners. Despite its ultra-compact size, the 5-28 Terz offers surprising depth and projection. While optimized for Terz tuning, it can also be tuned to standard pitch for additional versatility. The instrument is fully acoustic with no onboard electronics and includes a hardshell case.
