Ceramic Lampshade – Inyo

The Inyo lampshade combines natural clay with a rich Tenmoku glaze. The outside remains mostly raw and tactile, while the glossy glazed inside reflects a warm, atmospheric light. Each lampshade is individually thrown and glazed by hand in my studio. About the Glaze One half of the lampshade is dipped in Tenmoku glaze and the other half in clear glaze. Where the two glazes meet, they react during firing and create different shades of brown, bronze, amber, blue and darker tones. I cannot control exactly how this reaction will develop. The photos show examples, but every Inyo lampshade will have its own unique colours and glaze pattern.
