Steeking - 18 Oct 2026

Have ever been intrigued by or scared of the very though of steeking (literally cutting open your knitting) then this workshop is for you. You will learn to understand the process of steeking and to confidently cut open armholes and V-necks without damaging your work. This technique, trusted and perfected by generations of Shetland Island knitters, won't ruin your knitting. We'll guide you through each step, ensuring a successful and satisfying result. Skill level: A more advanced class for knitters with experience of Fair Isle or stranded colourwork knitting and knitting small circumfrences in the round. Materials: You will need 50g each of two contrasting shades of smooth double knit weight wool, 4mm knitting needles, a 3mmm crochet hook and a pair of sharp scissors.
