A rare archive of production material connected to The Doors’ 1983 live album Alive, She Cried, bringing together three individual discs: an original reference pressing of the album itself, together with two one-sided acetate discs cut for individual tracks from the record - “Gloria” and “Moonlight Drive”.At the centre of the collection is a reference pressing of the album Alive, She Cried, housed in a plain Elektra Records sleeve with handwritten identification. The disc features custom typed labels marked “Reference #2”, indicating it was produced for internal review prior to commercial manufacture.Reference pressings were created in very small quantities for producers, engineers, record executives and the band to approve mastering and sequencing before an album entered full production. As a result, they are considerably scarcer than standard commercial releases and offer a fascinating insight into the record-making process.Alive, She Cried compiled live performances recorded by The Doors between 1968 and 1970, including versions of “Gloria,” “Moonlight Drive,” “Love Me Two Times,” “Little Red Rooster” and “Light My Fire.” This reference copy represents an early production-stage example of the album before its 1983 retail release.Alongside the album reference pressing are two further one-sided lacquer acetates, each cut for a single track from the record: one for “Gloria” and one for “Moonlight Drive”. The discs are housed in a plain Elektra Records sleeve dated October 24, 1983 and carries the same handwritten “The Doors” identification found on the album reference pressing, with its individual track title noted by hand on the sleeve. Produced during the same 1983 production window as the LP reference copy, together these the three discs offer a rare window into the mastering and review process behind one of The Doors’ key live releases. All three discs come directly from the personal collection of Mary Cobra (Mary Ramirez), founding guitarist of The Detroit Cobras, whose archive reflects a lifelong appreciation for influential rock recordings.Included in this Lot 1 x reference pressing of “Alive, She Cried” (Reference #2), Elektra Record 1 x one-sided acetate disc of “Gloria”, Elektra Records, dated October 24, 1983 1 x one-sided acetate disc of “Moonlight Drive”, Elektra Records, dated October 24, 1983 Key Details & Collectability Custom typed reference labels on the LP pressing; hand-annotated labels on the acetates Rare set of production-stage material connected to a single Doors release From the personal collection of Mary Cobra (Mary Ramirez) of The Detroit Cobras
