Minyma Kutjara

Those sisters they had that manguṟi-manguṟi (round bowl) on their head. They been running, running everywhere and they been looking, looking everywhere for that man but they couldn’t see him. But he was hiding, watching. Those minyma, they hid behind the trees and that man Nyiru was hiding in that puḻi (rock). They been close here to Irrunytju. They been get up and run. DIANE DAWSON Minyma Kutjara / Two Women is one of the most important women’s creation stories of the region and a special story for Irrunytju. It tells the story of the intrepid journey of two sisters who travelled through the vast desert. The Tjukurpa is one that has been told many times through painting and inma (cultural song and dance), and the places where the sisters travelled and rested can be traced through the desert, through rockholes and mountain ranges.
