A Lignose Einhand pocket pistol chambered in .25 ACP (6.35mm Browning) — one of the most ingenious pocket-pistol designs of the early 20th century. About the Einhand: Designed by Louis Schmeisser with a cocking mechanism developed from Witold Chylewski's patents, the "Einhand" (German for "one hand") allowed the shooter to rack the slide and chamber a round using only one hand, by pulling back the hinged front section of the trigger guard — a clever solution for personal defense in an era when concealable pocket autos were highly sought after. The design was originally produced by Waffenfabrik Bergmann from 1912 as the Bergmann-Einhand-Pistole, before Lignose AG acquired the company in 1922 and continued production under the Lignose name through around 1928. The pistol was offered in two frame sizes: the Model 2A, a compact vest-pocket variant with a 6-round magazine, and the larger Model 3A with an extended grip and 9-round magazine. Total production across both Bergmann and Lignose manufacture is estimated at 40,000–50,000 units, making surviving examples — especially in strong original condition — genuinely scarce collector's items today.
