Soltera Special Cask Rum (Release #2)

700mL / 44% ABV Soltera’s next chapter has arrived: a richer, deeper expression of Soltera Rum, made for slow sipping and quiet appreciation. This limited release brings together 3–4 year old rum aged in ex-Bourbon casks with a 2-year old rum matured in an ex-PX sherry cask. The result is a layered spirit, balancing bourbon-cask notes of vanilla oak, toasted spice and soft molasses with the PX cask’s indulgent dried fruit, raisin and dark honey character. With only a limited supply of full casks to work with, this release became a little puzzle: tasting through the barrels, deciding which to save for a future 5-year-old expression, which to blend, and which direction to take. In the end, like much of the Soltera journey, instinct led the way. This Special Cask release is approachable without losing the warmth, depth and character rum drinkers love. Full-bodied, smooth and quietly indulgent, it’s a rum built for the slow pour.
