"Sunlit Clouds" Vintage Furisode Kimono

This listing is for a traditional vintage furisode kimono - the most formal, long-sleeved style created for a young, unmarried woman. See below for more detail. Soft and luminous, this furisode layers ornate floral medallions in warm orange, buttercream, yellow, and gold across drifting clouds of peach. Yuzen dyeing is accented with shimmering gold leaf and fine gold couching, while a woven cloud jacquard quietly echoes the floating cloud motif throughout the silk. The abundant stylized blossoms and clouds create an auspicious design associated with beauty, good fortune, and an ever-changing future. Signs of age are present, including light blemishes or mottling areas from age and use, see last photo(s). Furisode are worn for formal events, such as Seijin-no-hi (Coming of Age Day, sometimes translated as Adults Day) in early January. Furisode are also worn for weddings, recitals, receptions, and other celebrations calling for formal attire. Note the long sleeves (furi = long, sode = sleeves) sometimes called "butterfly sleeves", which flow with grace when she gestures, attracting male attention!
