Sixteen year old Simon is about to be interviewed for something could potentially alter his life for the best – forever. At least he’s been told this by his parents, teachers, everyone. With him in the waiting room are nine other young people with exactly that same expectation. They have no idea what they will be asked or what the interview is actually about. The pressure is immense, the promise unlimited. Time passes and the tension in the room grows. Cracks begin to show and, as they wait, they begin to share stories of their lives and motives for wanting this so badly. What follows are betrayals, fights, new loves, and allegiances all while Simons looks back on what got him here in the first place. The room is a “lifeboat” where some stay, some sink, and others swim.
