Arranged by Bud Caputo from Album for the Young (Album für die Jugend), Op. 68 I. The Headless Horseman II. The Happy Farmer Headless Horseman (Op. 68, No. 8) and Happy Farmer (Op. 68, No. 10) are part of an album of piano music composed by Robert Schumann in 1848 for his three daughters. The album consists of a collection of 43 short works. Our arrangement for brass quintet is suitable for high school or college-level players. It would be great performed for younger audiences. Parts are included for two trumpets in Bb, horn in F, trombone and tuba, with a substitute trombone part for the horn. All instruments get to play solo at one point or another!
