Born and raised in the suburbs outside of Seattle. Growing up as a minority in her hometown, her local Temple provided cultural connection that continues to inspire her work as an artist. Shayla Hufana was born and raised in Washington. She is a Filipino American artist specializing in graphic arts and branding. She is the founder of ConceptShell Art & Design Studio and ConceptShell Foundation, a nonprofit creating meaningful impact through events and paid opportunities for youth and artists in art, design, and wellness. ConceptShell elevates brands and amplifies underrepresented voices through impactful design, strategic communication, and community-centered initiatives. Through its Studio and nonprofit Foundation, ConceptShell empowers organizations and communities to lead with authenticity, build lasting connections, and inspire meaningful change. Japantown Neighbors is a volunteer community group made of community members and business owners. Their mission is to activate and highlight historic Japantown through community events and neighborhood improvements.
