This lush green Australian native plant is a low growing, (to 15cm) carpet forming, ground cover. It is tolerant of wet boggy soils and can even be used as a low traffic lawn substitute, suitable for filling gaps between pavers on pathways. Also useful for erosion control along the edge of creek beds and ponds helping to suppress unwanted weeds. Pratia produces masses of white star shaped flowers in Spring and can look like pillows of white snow when in full bloom. Pratia spreads easily via rhizomatous roots in moist soils, eventually forming a matt of growth 10-15cm thick. These ‘growth matts’ can be transplanted in chunks, similar to transplanting turf. The foliage of this plant can be trimmed back to ground level or to a desired shape using garden shears, scissors or even a hedge trimmer. Note: Plant cuttings can re-grow given moist conditions and can spread into neighboring garden beds or lawns if left unchecked. Removal can be from difficult to reach may require broadleaf weed spray since small root fragments can be evasive when removing this plant manually. Thes plants are sold in 165mm squat pots. Express post orders are sent bare rooted.
