Antique Roanoke Pure Rye Whisky Advertising Mirror Desk Clock

c. 1890-1915; Clock: Parker Clock Co./S. Strauss, Pritz & Co. - Cincinnati, Ohio Reverse-painted mirrored advertising desk clock promoting Roanoke Pure Rye Whisky, distributed by S. Strauss, Pritz & Co., Proprietors, Cincinnati, Ohio. The diamond-shaped mirrored advertising panel features bold white reverse-painted lettering surrounding a small Parker Clock Co. timepiece set within a gilt-finished bezel. The mirror is mounted on an adjustable brass-toned easel stand with decorative floral corner mounts, allowing the display to be tilted for countertop presentation. Designed as a saloon or liquor dealer's advertising display, this uncommon form combines functional timekeeping with eye-catching point-of-sale advertising from the pre-Prohibition era. Displays age-related wear throughout, including scratches, paint loss, oxidation, and scattered wear to the reverse-painted advertising and mirrored surface. The gilt-finished metal stand exhibits expected finish wear and oxidation consistent with age. The wooden base shows scattered finish wear, scratches, moisture staining, and areas of missing veneer. The underside of the base has mounting screws protruding below the surface, as photographed. The Parker clock is not currently functioning and will require repair or servicing.
