The beautifully modelled three-dimensional brooch depicts a seated spotted leopard beside an ornate lidded vessel, with wonderfully detailed features and textured decoration. The piece retains its rich gilt finish and is fitted with a pin fastening to the reverse. The brooch bears Lexi Dick’s distinctive conjoined “LD” maker’s mark, together with 925 sterling silver and the special Millennium hallmark. We contacted Lexi Dick directly, who personally confirmed that she made this design for The Goldsmiths’ Company as its Millennium gift, offered for members to purchase. Lexi recalled that the design proved popular and that several hundred were sold; she also noted that she still occasionally sees members wearing them when visiting Goldsmiths’ Hall.Originally these brooches were supplied in a red leather presentation case bearing the Goldsmiths’ Company coat of arms. The original case is unfortunately no longer present with this example.Maker: Lexi Dick Commissioned by: The Goldsmiths’ Company Date: Millennium, 2000 Material: Sterling silver with gilt finish Dimensions: approximately 43mm × 33mm Weight: approximately 14g Condition: Very good pre-owned conditionProvenance: The identification and history of this brooch have been personally confirmed to us by its maker, Lexi Dick, in correspondence dated September 2026.
