GEOFF MERRILL JACKO'S SHIRAZ

Like Geoff himself he has always made wines with plenty of character, and Jacko’s Shiraz is a great example. Geoff is not just a legend of the Australian wine industry, he’s also an absolute top bloke. I’ve always had enormous respect for what he’s achieved, and that makes wines like this feel a little more personal. Jacko’s is a rich, full-bodied Shiraz with plenty of dark fruit, spice and depth. There’s ripe blackberry and plum, backed by savoury notes, a touch of oak and a lovely richness through the finish. What makes it even more special is the story behind it. Jacko’s was created as a tribute to a much-loved member of the Geoff Merrill team, and there’s real heart behind the wine. Bold, generous and full of personality — a terrific Shiraz made by a great winemaker and, more importantly to me, a great mate.
