Calathea Ornata, known in the US as the Pinstripe Plant, is a tropical indoor plant from South America. It forms a dense clump of large, glossy dark green leaves with beautiful, thin pink stripes that turn white over time. The undersides of the leaves are a deep purple color to help the plant catch light under the jungle canopy. At night, it uses a natural joint at the base of each leaf to fold its foliage vertically, a unique movement typical of the prayer plant family. Calathea Ornata Care Guide: Hardiness zone (USDA zone): 11-12. Light: Medium indirect light. Avoid direct harsh sunlight, which can burn the leaves and bleach the beautiful pink stripes.
