When the head is within about 6 cm of an object for 1.5 seconds, it automatically drops to 30 lumens to prevent glare and heat. Look away and it returns to your previous brightness. You can switch this feature on or off. Replaceable battery and USB-C charging The HM55R runs on a user-replaceable Fenix ARB-L18-1600 (18350, 1600mAh) battery. Carry a spare and swap it in seconds on long treks. It charges inside the headlamp through an internally waterproofed USB Type-C port in about 2.5 hours on any 5 V / 1 A or higher adapter, and the headlamp can be used while charging.
